We have built up a wide understanding of accelerated low water corrosion (AWLC) on steel structures and the various methods with which to tackle this global problem.
We have installed complete cathodic protection systems underwater to all the quays in Lerwick and Scrabster Harbours. This system, involving fitting anodes to sheet and tubular piles, is designed to stop any further corrosion and design life is 25 years before maintenance.
We have also supplied and installed sacridicial cathodic protection systems in:
- Aberdeen’s Albert and Palmerston Quays and Victoria Dock Entrance
- other quays in Aberdeen
- Stornoway, Felixstowe and Montrose Harbours
- Clydeport
- Port of Tyne and Dover Harbours in England.
Ocean Kinetics’ systems
The qualities of our systems include, but are not limited to:
- cost effectiveness and speed
- ability to be selective to individual piles or encompass complete berth repairs allowing maximum use of berths
- return of structural integrity lost due to corrosion
- improved berthing face.
Our experience and expertise has led us to apply for the patent on 2 of our systems. These are detailed on Marine Services.
