Project Description
Colas Rail were the main contractors for Network Rail on a £29million contract to upgrade the overhead power lines.
As well as servicing Waverley Station this also included the line from Airdrie to Bathgate.
Our task was to upgrade the structural steelwork that supports the overhead lines. This includes the steel columns and bridge units that span the rail tracks.
Services Provided
We fabricated steel structures in our Shetland workshops and transported them for galvanising before they were moved onsite.
Several of the bridge sections were too large for transportation. Therefore we were required to weld and erect the structures onsite.
We also fabricated and galvanised hundreds of small steel parts including brackets, stays and struts.
