Ocean Kinetics have joined forces with international welding and subsea component fabrication specialist Serimax to offer Oil and Gas clients in and around Shetland a comprehensive onshore and offshore fabrication and welding service.

Following meetings and discussions between senior staff of both companies, Ocean Kinetics are delighted to announce the signing of an MOU on cooperation between the companies.

The objective behind this agreement is to offer a full welding and fabrication service to offshore and onshore clients in the North Sea Oil and Gas industry based in Shetland. Ocean Kinetics have recognised for some time that the company is strategically located to offer savings to North sea operators in terms of transit time to their assets in the Northern North Sea and West of Shetland that is particularly poignant in the current environment. By joining forces with Serimax, Ocean Kinetics can now provide a much more sophisticated service meeting the increasingly challenging technical specifications synonymous with Serimax track record in the industry.

Serimax are a leading provider of automatic and manual welding services and have an intimate knowledge of the North Sea offshore sector and have strong relationships with all the major operators and Tier 1 contractors. Serimax have delivered a sizeable part of welding services on the Shetland Gas plant Laggan Tormore from their UK base at Evanton on the Cromarty Firth. As part of the agreement Serimax will now be able to utilise Ocean Kinetics Lerwick facilities and local workforce to augment their services onshore in Shetland and to attract new offshore work into Lerwick for the mutual benefit of all parties.

Dave Mackay Regional VP for Serimax NEU (Northern Europe) stated "Serimax recently attended the Shetland Showcase event and we took the opportunity to visit Ocean Kinetics. We are impressed with their management team, facilities and their work ethic which aligns with our own values. In the current climate our clients are asking us to look at how we can become more efficient and this is a step towards meeting that objective. We feel very confident about the relationship and are looking forward to working with them."

John Henderson, Managing Director of Ocean Kinetics said "We are delighted to team up with Serimax who are a company with a first class international reputation in the Oil and Gas industry. Both our companies share the same values and the belief in providing the highest quality solutions to energy industry clients. We understand the current pressure on operators and hope this move will lead to efficiencies for clients through the services we can provide here in Lerwick."

Provisional discussions have already taken place with one major offshore operator on placing work into Lerwick and it is clear that there is a strong interest in looking at doing things differently to save costs. Ocean Kinetics believe that more of this type of work can be attracted to Shetland following this new arrangement and look forward to the future.
