Highlands and Islands MSP Mike MacKenzie has lodged a Parlimentary Motion asking the Scottish Parliment to congratulate Shetland firm Ocean Kinetics on moving its fifty staff into new headquarters in Lerwick's Port Business Park.

Mr MacKenzie, who sits on the Parliments Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee said: 'I am delighted to ask my fellow MSPs to recognise Shetland company Ocean Kinetics, Marine Engineering Specialists, for investing in new headquarters, creating jobs, its reputation for excellence and ambitious plans for growth.

'What has particularly impressed me is the company's use of a local architect, Alan McKay, and local building firm Hunter Morrison in the design and construction of thier new headquarters and with energy-efficient features throughout includng a bio-mass boiler fulled by locally-produced wood pellets.

'As I have stated in my motion to parliment Ocean Kinetics has proved what can be achieved locally by utilising Scotland's wealth of oil, gas and renewables opportunities which is very much in line with the Scottish Government's enthusiams for these opportunities which are helping drive Scotland's economy and creating jobs in communities like Shetland.'
