Ocean Kinetics completes Oil and Gas works in Fife
We were delighted to show our capabilities through the recent replacement and installation of three 32m aluminium walkways on the Exxonmobil jetty at Braefoot Bay at the Fife Ethylene plant in Mosmorran on the Firth of Forth.
The three original walkways had to be removed and replaced due to severe corrosion. Due to this damage Ocean Kinetics had to design, engineer and fabricate a 24m steel lifting frame which would support the weight of the walkways and prevent them from collapsing during the lifting process.
All lifting operations were carried out without incident from a crane barge which was positioned adjacent to the berthing dolphins.
The work was carried out successfully under a challenging time scale with no issues. All design work was carried out in house at our Lerwick base and our Marine Projects Director, Michael Fox, managed the works on site with a team of Ocean Kinetics technicians.
Michael said the job was challenging at times due to weather conditions and short working windows due to tanker movements.
Exxonmobil have expressed their gratitude and praised Ocean Kinetics for delivering the project successfully, but most of all safely.
Managing Director John Henderson commented;
“We believe this shows that the experience we have gained from working with numerous Oil and Gas clients in Shetland can be put to good use for mainland clients requiring solutions to challenging situations. We are quite capable of delivering services to any potential client in the Oil and Gas industry no matter where they are located and this a small demonstration of our ability to do so.”
