Ocean Kinetics has announced that its 2023 scholarship has been awarded to chemical engineering student, Daniel Henry. Daniel will receive a bursary of £3,000, personal mentoring and paid work experience at Ocean Kinetics outside term time.

Managing director of Ocean Kinetics, John Henderson, said: “We are very pleased to announce that Daniel Henry has been awarded Ocean Kinetics 2023 scholarship. We were very impressed with his experience and commitment to shaping the sustainable future of the energy industry.

“We very much look forward to supporting Daniel through his studies and are excited to have his input into the development of sustainable technologies for our clients in the energy sector.

Daniel Henry, said: “I am really grateful to be chosen as the recipient of the Ocean Kinetics Scholarship. Receiving this award not only provides important financial support during my final year at University, but also reinforces my commitment to my engineering studies.

“The scholarship’s emphasis on mentoring and practical experience will be invaluable as I progress in my career, offering a unique opportunity to expand my network while enhancing my skills. I would like to thank those who have encouraged me in my studies over the past few years, including previous employers and University lecturers at Heriot Watt.”

The programme, first launched last year, is open to students studying a STEM subject (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) at university or college.

John Henderson continued: “We were delighted by the response and quality of applications received for the scholarship programme again this year. We thank all students for their interest and would encourage those that were unsuccessful to apply again next year.

“We are proud to have a strong track record in supporting Shetland’s young people on their career path, with opportunities for both apprenticeships and graduates across a range of trades and specialisms including coded welders, fabricators, turners, mechanical fitters, divers, project engineers, site managers, CSWIP/PCN qualified inspectors and 3D CAD design engineers.”
