Fabrication

For over 20 years we have been delivering high quality structural and architectural steelwork, pipework, platework, bespoke fabrication and repairs. Our staff are fully coded to provide coded fabrication to ASME IX, EN 9609, AWS D1.1, AWS D3.6M, Pipework to ASME B31.3 & EN 13480 and Structural fabrication to BS EN 1090 Exc 3.

Ocean Kinetics are accredited by TWI to ISO 3834-2.

Machining & Manufacture

We have invested heavily in machinery, equipment and training to complement our fabrication capabilities, and allow us to provide a comprehensive in-house manufacturing facility. Our facilities include plasma cutters, turning and milling machines.

We also produce a variety of pig handling equipment, for both offshore and onshore operations.

Diving

Ocean Kinetics provide a comprehensive range of diving and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) services both locally and internationally.

Our dive teams, based in Lerwick and Aberdeen, can mobilise quickly and provide a complete diving service from surveys (including NDT) and inspections, underwater welding, construction, demolition and salvage.

Plant Hire

Ocean Kinetics holds an extensive stock of plant, equipment and specialist tooling to support all areas of mechanical engineering services and a range of industrial sectors in Shetland. You can download a PDF copy of our plant hire fleet details.

Inspection and Testing

We undertake a range of inspection and testing in-house. Our visual weld inspectors are qualified to a minimum of CSWIP 3.1 and our NDT technicians are certified to CSWIP Level II for MPI &/or DPI.

Our NDT facility is a recent development, and is the only commercial one of its kind in Shetland. With this facility, we can offer services such as hydrostatic pressure testing, ultrasonic inspections and SPX hydraulic bolting. You can watch the facility tour video.

Certified Materials

Ocean Kinetics recognise how important it is for many of our clients to have fully-certified and traceable materials. We maintain traceability within our stores and workshops through our Quality Management System, which is fully accredited to ISO 9001.

We also hold ISO 3834-2 accreditation for comprehensive assurance of our fabrication activities. This encompasses the whole manufacturing process, from material procurement through to dispatch of finished goods.

Trades Provision

Ocean Kinetics has the capacity to hire out tradesmen on projects all over the world. Our highly-skilled teams are fully resourced and supported from our offices in Lerwick and Aberdeen. These teams can contain a custom blend of trades and expertise to suit your needs.

Shop/Stores

Ocean Kinetics’ shop and stores stocks a vast array of tools and equipment, from Kemppi welders, to adhesives, bolts and PPE. We can also supply sheet steel and section, as well as pipes, flanges, valves and more. For one off items, we can even offer a specialist ordering service. We have recently started offering Ultraguard – a world-leading, environmentally friendly antifouling system.

Our highly trained team can also provide cutting services with a guillotine, bandsaw and CNC plasma cutter.
