Our people are our company
The best of the best: Highly skilled and motivated, with access to cutting edge equipment and new technologies, they will inspire you.
Our experienced coded welders consistently deliver to the highest standards, whatever the requirement. Working in all materials, from carbon steels to duplex and exotic materials such as Inconel and Hastelloy; the welders are fully engaged with our certified quality management systems (ASME IX, EN 9606, AWS D1.1 and AWS D3.6M).
For over 20 years, our highly skilled fabricators have helped build Ocean Kinetics reputation for first-class engineering, by offering a range of expertise in everything from fish processing systems to structural steelworks.
Based in Lerwick and Aberdeen, our divers are fully-qualified tradesmen providing a complete diving service: surveys (including NDT) and inspections, underwater welding, construction, demolition and salvage. We use cutting-edge technology and an inspection-class ROV, offering clients cost-effective inspections and surveys to a depth of 300m.
Our professional and highly skilled office team makes sure that Ocean Kinetics day to day business runs smoothly.
We have in-house CSWIP/PCN qualified (level II minimum) inspectors and technicians. From visual inspection, to traditional MPI & DPI; to radiography and ultrasonics; our inspectors have a comprehensive range of equipment and certifications to support your project.
Our marine services are core to the business, with marine director, Roger, and manager, Michael, working with the company for over 20 years. From designing a pontoon for Lerwick harbour to reconstructing the quay in Antarctica; our dedicated team are always ready for the next challenge.
Health and safety
We pride ourselves in our health and safety standards. Thanks to our HSE Manager, David Georgeson, we maintain our high standards by keeping abreast of new developments in equipment and training; we have achieved many certifications including Alumus SafeContractor and BS EN OHSAS 18001.
Ocean Kinetics’ reputation has been built on our ability to problem solve and develop innovative solutions. No matter how challenging, our engineers can create bespoke, quality designs that meet and exceed our customers’ needs. Using traditional 2D and the latest 3D CAD software, we visualise and analyse solutions with CAM integration, then provide a direct link to our CNC manufacturing equipment.
Ocean Kinetics’ mechanical fitters provide efficient solutions to clients such as Total (operators of the Shetland Gas Plant). We also provide plant and equipment hire to support an extensive range of mechanical engineering services.
Our store team has an extensive and exhaustive stock of plant, equipment and specialist tooling to support all areas of mechanical engineering services in Shetland.
