Ocean Kinetics Signs up to the Young Person’s Guarantee

The Young Person’s Guarantee fits perfectly with our youth-led campaign Futures, for it is a commitment to bring together employers, partners and young people. It aims to connect every 16- to 24-year-old in Scotland to an opportunity. This could be a job, apprenticeship, further or higher education, training or volunteering. It could also be an enterprise opportunity.

Ocean Kinetics has always been passionate about providing training and employment opportunities for young people. We currently offer various Modern Apprenticeship opportunities where staff can earn a wage and gain an industry-recognised qualification at the same time. One of our staff members is undertaking an engineering degree through Ocean Kinetics in conjunction with Robert Gordon University. We also have several apprentice welders working towards their qualification in conjunction with the University of the Highlands and Islands.

We have recently started providing an annual scholarship for university students who wish to study a STEM subject at university and so far, have granted two students with a scholarship bursary. In addition, we engage with our DYW Shetland team to bring opportunities to our pupils and educators in Shetland Schools.
