CASE STUDY

Total – mechanical engineering cover
Client: Total
Location: Shetland Gas Plant

Project:

To provide mechanical engineering cover in the key compressor area of the Shetland Gas Plant during the Christmas/New Year period of 2015. The challenge involved putting together a team capable of working through both important holiday periods at short notice.

Solution:

Total engaged with Ocean Kinetics as they wanted a local company with the accreditation in place who could become familiar in the compressor area in case of future call outs.

Ocean Kinetics responded by having a team in place and on site for a period of 60 days from 1 December. Six of our locally based qualified engineers immediately came on site and quickly got up to speed, causing minimum disruption for the client.

Managerial support to allow responses to client requests over this time was also provided, as was night shift cover, which was mobilised immediately ensuring that cover was in place throughout the holiday period.

Over the cover period we were able to respond to calls on Christmas day, and have Ocean Kinetics’ workshops and facilities open for Total on Boxing Day to allow them to resolve an urgent matter.

Understanding the client’s requirements from the outset was key in delivering this service. Ocean Kinetics had no reportable incidents and all trades provided met and exceeded the client’s standards.
