Ocean Kinetics invests heavily in marine plant hire service to maintain business development programme

Fast-growing marine engineering and fabrication specialists Ocean Kinetics – based in Shetland, Aberdeen, and Oban – has continued its development and stepped up its range of services through a heavy investment in marine plant and equipment, which it is now offering to customers on short, medium and long-term hire deals.

The company has built up an extensive stock of plant, equipment, and specialist tooling – ranging from survey vessels and workboats to pontoons and a decompression chamber – to support a range of sectors throughout the UK.

“The company’s business success has been built through listening to our customers’ engineering demands and then ensuring that we can support their requirements,” said managing director John Henderson. “Most recently, this has seen us investing in marine assets such as pontoons, barges, cranes, boats, diving equipment, a decompression chamber, underwater hydraulic tools, and a wide range of support equipment.

“With this high-quality plant list, we are now able to deliver a comprehensive hire service which in turn gives our clients the capacity to fulfil their work.”

All plant and equipment is fully tested and certified in line with the most stringent industry regulations before being hired out to clients, and a team of engineers maintains the plant at the company’s bases. Servicing and repairs can be carried out at clients’ own premises by Ocean Kinetics engineers or at the company’s own fully-equipped bases in Lerwick and Aberdeen.

“We believe that we are now able to meet all client requirements,” said John Henderson. “However, we will happily invest in new equipment if and when it is specifically identified and requested.”

This latest development is part of a wider commitment to the marine sector, for which Ocean Kinetics continues to create solution-based engineering and fabrication services. These have included a series of highly innovative engineering developments in aquaculture and fishing, which has solved challenges in fish handling in hatcheries, factories, and on-board vessels, as well as underwater, offshore and onshore installations.
